Your Questions, Answered.

Who is this for?

K’ept Health is for any woman who is looking for a comprehensive, data-driven approach to their skin — whether you want to prevent certain conditions, optimize an aspect of your health to manage flare-ups, or just feel your best every day. Our vision is to remove barriers to care for all women regardless of their skin tone.

Are telemedicine doctors as good as in-office doctors?

Yes! They are the same people, in fact, all K’ept Help dermatologists hold a state medical license where they practice medicine and are board-certified with the American Academy of Dermatology (the AAD). They see patients in person, and many of them operate their own practices in their local cities. Practicing medicine through technology is exactly the same as practicing medicine face-to-face, per the requirements of all State Boards of Medicine. Many telemedicine patients comment that the service they receive is better than an in-person medical visit because they don’t feel rushed and they get more details about their skin condition.

Who will be providing my care?

For your virtual visits, you will be matched with a board-certified dermatologist licensed to provide care in your state. For private chat sessions with an esthetician, you will be matched with a licensed expert.

Due to our commitment to a high level of care, we have done the frustrating work for you - finding highly-vetted board-certified dermatologists who understand how to treat skin of color and who practice functional or integrative dermatology. In addition, we apply the same recruitment efforts to finding and vetting estheticians who have worked with all skin tones, understand nutrition and lifestyle, and who have worked in a medical setting.

What skin conditions and diseases do K’ept Health doctors treat?

The most common skin diseases and conditions we treat are Acne and Acne Scars, Hyperpigmentation, Melasma, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Skin Aging, Wrinkles, Rashes, and other common skin concerns· You should not use K’ept Health if you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency. K’ept Health is intended to treat a large variety of non-life-threatening skin conditions. Our doctors can evaluate your skin condition remotely, provide their opinion as to the next best steps with an evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment plan, and in some cases refer you to a local doctor if face-to-face procedures are required as part of your treatment plan.

Is this in-person care?

No, this is a fully digital service delivered through telemedicine. You will be communicating with a dermatologist via secure store and forward photo submission; for your chat session, you will communicate with an esthetician via a secure standard in-app messaging system.

What if I need in-person care?

We’re happy to refer you for in-person care for facial treatments and extended follow-up care! Eventually, we hope to build a practitioner network who are part of the K’ept Health community.

How can you provide 24/7 care? Why don’t I need to make an appointment?

Telemedicine usually means one of two methods for interacting with your doctor: (1) by uploading photos of your skin condition, or (2) through a scheduled live video meeting. K’ept Health dermatologists are able to evaluate your skin condition by reviewing your photos and medical history. You simply need to take a photo of your skin condition and answer a few medical history questions and hit submit, then after your dermatologist has reviewed your submission you will receive a notification to review evaluation notes and the suggested treatment plan.

What is machine learning? How do you apply it?

We use an AI/machine learning system to “tag” images of skin with various notes including skin condition, shape, size, and more meeting our strict internal requirements for an inclusive system reflecting the population. Our system provides K’ept Health dermatologists with high-quality information aiding in better, holistic diagnoses and treatments. We also use this technology to aid K’ept Health estheticians and to provide you with an at-home facial skin analysis and customized recommendations.

Do I need medical insurance?

No. You do not need medical insurance to receive a telemedicine visit. We have affordable pricing that makes care truly accessible.

What advice will I receive from a K’ept Health aesthetician?

Through a private chat session, our aestheticians will answer all questions from ingredients to routine to what in-person facial treatments would be best for your skin. You can also submit an image for review, however, the information provided is strictly educational and is not medical advice. By completing the on-boarding questionnaire and the 3-D facial scan skin analysis, our estheticians can effectively evaluate the current state of your skin. All K’ept Health aestheticians hold a state license. They see clients in person, and many of them operate their own clinics in their local cities.

Where will this be available?

K’ept Health will be available for 100% of U.S. residents at launch for private chat sessions with an aesthetician. For all virtual visits with a dermatologist, we launch in select states before expanding to the rest of the country in 2022. Launch states include California, New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. We hope to expand the service on a rolling basis.

Why are you only launching in five states for some services?

Physician licensure varies on a state-by-state basis, and we’re working hard to expand licensing for our dermatologists as well as hire dermatologists licensed in all 50 states.

Should I still join the waitlist if my state isn't on the list for the initial rollout states?

Absolutely. Not only will you receive access to private chat sessions and at-home motioning tools; you’ll also help us prioritize which states to expand to next.

I signed up for the waitlist. When will I get access?

We appreciate your interest in the service and your patience in waiting! We plan to continuously expand the number of participants on a monthly basis, and we will keep you updated on our progress.
